The Admissions Council of the University of Science, VNU-HCM (hereinafter referred to as the University of Science or the University) announces the admission process for international applicants, hereinafter referred to as Admission Method 1b (Method Code 410), for full-time undergraduate programs in 2026 as follows:

I. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS AND ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

International applicants applying for full-time undergraduate programs in 2026 in accordance with regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) must satisfy all of the following conditions:
  1. At the time of admission review and before the official admission results are announced, applicants must have graduated from a foreign high school (recognized as equivalent to Vietnamese upper secondary education or vocational secondary education by competent authorities).
  2. Applicants must have achieved Vietnamese language proficiency equivalent to B2 level (Level 4/6) or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework stipulated in Circular No. 17/2015/TT-BGDĐT dated September 1, 2015, issued by the Minister of Education and Training; or have completed educational programs at the general education, vocational, college, undergraduate, master’s, or doctoral levels taught in Vietnamese. Alternatively, applicants who have achieved Vietnamese language proficiency equivalent to B1 level (Level 3/6) according to the same framework must complete a preparatory Vietnamese language program and meet the following requirements:
    • The University will arrange for admitted applicants to participate in a preparatory Vietnamese language program in accordance with the agreement and commitment made between the admitted applicants and the University.
    • After completing the preparatory course, applicants must take a Vietnamese language proficiency assessment. If they meet the required standard, they will be transferred to the official academic program. If they do not meet the required standard, they must continue supplementary study and participate in subsequent assessments until they achieve the required level and obtain the necessary certificate for admission to the official program.
  3. Meet the admission threshold with an average GPA over the three years of high school equivalent to at least 75% of the maximum grading scale used in the applicant’s home country.
  4. Be physically fit to study in Vietnam according to current regulations. After arriving in Vietnam, applicants must undergo a health examination at a medical facility designated by the admitting educational institution or by a Vietnamese international student service agency. Applicants diagnosed with dangerous infectious diseases as defined by Vietnamese law, or those deemed medically unfit for study, must return to their home country.
  5. Provide complete personal information and application documents as required by the University.

II. ADMISSION METHOD

Based on the applicant’s high school academic performance and the entry requirements of the training program as stipulated by the Rector, the Admissions Council will review and decide on admission for applicants in the following cases (where necessary, applicants may be required to complete one supplementary semester before officially commencing their studies):
  • High school academic performance;
  • Vietnamese language proficiency;
  • An essay describing the applicant’s academic goals and motivation for studying the registered major.
The University’s Admissions Council will determine the major for direct admission based on the applicant’s preferences and the admission quota allocated to each major.

III. ADMISSION QUOTAS AND AVAILABLE MAJORS

Admission quotas are determined based on the qualifications of applicants. The admission quota for international students ranges from 05 to 10 students per academic program. In cases where the applicant pool demonstrates strong qualifications, the University may admit up to 20 students per program.

IV. NUMBER OF APPLICATION PREFERENCES AND GENERAL ADMISSION PRINCIPLES

1. Number of Application Preferences

  • Applicants may register a maximum of 04 admission preferences for majors/major groups under Admission Method 1b.
  • For each admission category, if an applicant registers more than two preferences for majors/major groups, the preferences must be arranged in descending order of priority (Preference 1 being the highest priority). Applicants will only be admitted to one highest-priority preference among the list of registered preferences.

2. General Admission Principles

Admission evaluation is conducted according to the following order:
  • High school academic performance.
    Admission Score = GPA + Bonus Points
    Where:
    • GPA: The sum of the average academic scores from Grades 10, 11, and 12 (or the final three years of upper secondary education). The applicant’s average score will be converted to a 10-point scale using linear conversion.
    • Bonus Points: For Admission Method 1b applicable to foreign nationals who graduated from a foreign high school, bonus points are awarded based on achievements obtained during the final three years of upper secondary education, with no restriction on how long ago the awards were achieved relative to the admission period. In addition, for international applicants holding awards granted abroad and certified by their local high school, the Admissions Council will review and make a decision on bonus point eligibility.
  • Bonus points are awarded for achievements in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Artificial Intelligence (Vietnamese Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence – VOAI / International AI Olympiads), and English . Applicants who receive awards in Geography are eligible for bonus points when applying to the following majors/major groups: Geology, Environmental Science . (*)

V. ONLINE APPLICATION REGISTRATION

1. Application Instructions

  • From 10:00 AM on June 16, 2026, to 5:00 PM on July 10, 2026, applicants must complete all online application procedures through the University’s admissions portal (entering all required information and uploading complete application documents).
  • Admissions portal: https://tuyensinhdh.hcmus.edu.vn.

2. Required Documents for Online Submission

The application documents required for applicants are as follows:
  1. Image files of the applicant’s high school transcripts for all three years of study (all six semesters), translated into Vietnamese or English.
  2. Image file of the applicant’s foreign high school diploma/certificate (recognized as equivalent to Vietnamese upper secondary education or vocational secondary education by competent authorities), translated into Vietnamese or English.
  3. Image file of a Vietnamese language certificate at B1 level (Level 3/6) or B2 level according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework stipulated in Circular No. 17/2015/TT-BGDĐT dated September 1, 2015, issued by the Minister of Education and Training.
  4. PDF file: An essay written in Vietnamese (or English) clearly stating the applicant’s reasons for choosing the major(s) for which they are applying to the University.

VI. ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPLICANTS ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION

On July 31, 2026, the University will announce the list of applicants who are eligible for admission on the University’s official website at: https://www.hcmus.edu.vn. The list of eligible admitted applicants will also be updated on the Ministry of Education and Training’s admissions portal.

VII. ENROLLMENT PROCEDURES SCHEDULE

  • Expected enrollment period: From September 8, 2026 to September 11, 2026 .
  • Detailed enrollment procedures and required documents will be announced later.

VIII. GENERAL NOTES

  • Applicants should carefully review all admissions information and admission notices, and must not apply to any major group/major/training program for which they do not meet the eligibility requirements. All admission requirements will be verified again when applicants submit their enrollment documents. .
  • Applicants should regularly monitor announcements from the University to ensure compliance with all regulations regarding eligibility requirements, application documents, procedures, timelines, and other information related to application and admission processes. The University’s admissions website is: https://tuyensinh.hcmus.edu.vn.
  • Applicants are required to submit all application documents and supporting evidence online to the University in accordance with the regulations.
  • Applicants must provide truthful and accurate information and are fully responsible for all declared information, deadlines, and other admission-related matters.
  • Applicants should clearly understand the official admission method name prescribed by the Ministry of Education and Training that corresponds to the University’s admission method, in order to facilitate online application registration and admission confirmation procedures in accordance with MOET regulations.
